FALLS CREEK – State police at DuBois took a 47-year-old Falls Creek man into custody after an overnight standoff.
Police report that a trooper arrived at an Old Grade Road, Washington Township, Jefferson County, address at about 9:30 p.m. in response to an incident there. The man, whose name has not been released by police, discharged a shotgun and then entered a home and barricaded himself inside.
Police spoke with the man by telephone for about three hours. Communication came to a halt, but a state police Special Emergency Response Team continued the telephone conversation to talk the man into coming outside.
The man was taken into custody and then to DuBois Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
Police report that criminal charges are pending.
Police were assisted at the scene by DuBois Emergency Medical Services, Falls Creek Fire and Rescue, the Falls Creek Fire Department, the state police S.E.R.T. Team, the state police helicopter and state police at Punxsutawney.
