FRENCHVILLE – At its recent meeting, the Deer Creek Watershed Association took action to have a display/information booth at the Frenchville Picnic, scheduled for July 21 and 22.
Members will be on hand to answer questions, distribute materials, and accept memberships, which are $5 for individuals; $10 per family; and $25 for businesses.
A logo-coloring contest is planned for children.
The Association exists primarily to work toward restoration of Deer Creek, once a pristine trout stream. Presently, concerned citizens are checking for pollution sources on the main mountain creek and its tributaries. Volunteers are needed to help gather water samples and assess the health of the creek; training will be provided.
All interested persons are urged to attend brief monthly meetings, which are held on the third Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Frenchville Hall, second floor, rear. For more information, phone Jim at 263-4453, or Rachel at 765-8130.
