PHILADELPHIA – Lieutenant Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll today said the organization Strengthening the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tomorrow has been supporting various statewide women’s conferences and is now poised to expand that support into a larger, regional program.
Lt. Governor Knoll today attended a planning session in preparation for SMART’s 6th Annual TechTrends conference, scheduled to be held in March of 2008 in Atlantic City. The event will feature a significant increase in current support of women in science & technology.
“Uniting the brainpower of women, with the educational edge and governmental know-how of our four states to attract forward-looking enterprise to our region has always been a good idea, and it keeps on getting better with every session like the one here today,” Knoll said. “This is an initiative I like to call ‘brains across the borders.’ Every time we get together, we get a little smarter about our future.”
SMART is poised to increase its market share of over $130 billion federal research and development funding dollars, organizing their membership into “technology clusters.” For additional information click here.
