Storm Causes Power Outages

CLEARFIELD – Tuesday night’s thunderstorms and heavy rain caused numerous power outages throughout Clearfield County.

According to Penelec Area Manager John Shimko, about 900 customers were without power following the storm in about 40 different trouble locations. The largest number of customers affected occurred in Houtzdale (181), Keeywadin (198) and McGees Mills (87).

Penelec crews worked throughout the night to restore power, replace broken poles and cross-arms and repair downed wires caused by the storm. All customers were restored by 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Penelec thanks customers for their patience and understanding during restoration efforts and reminds you to treat all downed wires as energized and dangerous. Do not approach or try to move downed wires.

Call 888-LIGHTSS (888-478-8465) to report downed wires and power outages.
