CLOVER TOWNSHIP – A man reported missing while fishing was found on Sunday according to Punxsutawney-based state police.
According to the report, 59-year-old Thomas McClaughin of New Bethlehem was found deceased in the Red Bank Creek a half-mile north of Baxter Bridge in Jefferson County. He was initially reported missing after he disappeared while fishing in Brookville Borough on April 18.
A missing person investigation was then conducted by the Brookville Borough Police Department. When McClaughin was found Brookville Borough Police and water rescue departments were searching on Sunday when McClaughin was found four-and-one-half miles south from where he was last seen. State police joined the investigation when McClaughin’s body was found outside of Brookville Borough.
McClaughin was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Bernard Snyder. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
