CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners along with the Pennsylvania Department of Health are planning a pandemic (flu) workshop to be held May 30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Department on Mill Road in Clearfield.
A pandemic is a global disease outbreak that occurs when a new influenza virus emerges for which people have little or no immunity and for which there is no vaccine. The disease spreads easily from person to person through coughing, sneezing or touching contaminated surfaces and causes serious illness.
This workshop will provide pertinent information to community members and business leaders in planning for a pandemic event.
The workshop includes presentations from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The workshop will conclude with a round table discussion and the development of a preparedness plan.
The workshop is free and open to the public.
