CLEARFIELD – Michelle “Shelly” Leigey, 34, of Clearfield was killed in a fire Sunday in Clearfield Borough’s East End.
Clearfield Borough Poilce were not able to release the name of the person who died in the fire this morning, but Clearfield Borough Police Chief Jeff Rhone said Monday afternoon that Leigey was the victim.
He said Clearfield Borough Police Cpl. Dave Fye is still investigating the cause of the 8:02 a.m. blaze that displaced a total of three families at 1104 Daisy St.
Rhone said the families were displaced as a result of the fire. Previous reports said the building has been ruled a total loss.
Fire crews from Clearfield Borough, Curwensville, Grampian, Lawrence Township, Bigler-Jackson-Woodland, Houtzdale and Philipsburg were on scene. DuBois Fire Department was on stand-by. The Lawrence Township Police Department also assisted at the scene.
The Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter American Red Cross was on the scene and is assisting the families affected by the fire. The chapter also provided a canteen for the firemen.
