UNIVERSITY PARK – The Lion Ambassadors will help the Penn State community celebrate its 152nd birthday with three free events scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 22.
Penn State’s birthday celebration will begin at the HUB-Robeson Center from noon–2 p.m. Entertainment will include performances by various student organizations including the Blue Band, Lionettes, RAM Squad, and more. The event will also feature a “Penn State Firsts” exhibit, and free cupcakes will be handed out during lunchtime.
The second event will be a distinguished speaker symposium from 4-5 p.m. at the Hintz Family Alumni Center. Speakers will include Roger Geiger, distinguished professor of education; Roger L. Williams, executive director of the Penn State Alumni Association and land-grant university scholar; and Lee Stout, Penn State historian. The purpose of the symposium is to share the intriguing history and promising future of Penn State and will include a short question and answer session. Refreshments will be served.
The birthday celebration will conclude with an evening reception at the Hintz Family Alumni Center from 7-9 p.m. The reception will commemorate Penn State’s history and evolving student life with additional student performances, free Berkey Creamery ice cream, gourmet desserts, and notable alumni, speakers, and guests.
The Lion Ambassadors are the Student Alumni Corp at Penn State and part of the Penn State Alumni Association.
