West Point, NY– Matthew Kyler of Clearfield registered a shutout decision as the Army wrestling team defeated East Stroudsburg 25-12 in the first home match Tuesday Night.
Kyler took down Matt Swallow twice en route to a 6-0 victory at 133 pounds, giving the Cadets a 7-0 lead.
The freshman, who has a 14-4 records, was one of the two Cadets singled out by head coach Chuck Barbee after the EIWA match.
\”Matt Kyler keeps putting forth workmanlike performances out there,\” Barbee said. \”He felt a little rusty after wrestling seven matches on Sunday (in Penn State\’s Nittany Lion Open), but he fought it out and beat a pretty tough competitior.\”
Army, 2-0 in the EIWA and 2-1 overall, is idle until hosting Franklin & Marshall on January 4.
