WHEELING, W. Va. – A man accused of killing his girlfriend in West Virginia before dumping her body in Clearfield County was named in a Federal Grand Jury indictment.
Eugene J. Talik Jr., 38, of Sewickley, was named in a three-count indictment, according to U.S. Attorney Sharon L. Potter.
Count One of the indictment alleges that Talik and another person known to the grand jury in the indictment as the accomplice, conspired to travel from late 2005 to May 25 to commit a crime of violence against 28-year-old Kelly Jo Elliot of West Virginia.
Count Two alleges that Talik, aided and abetted by the accomplice, traveled from Pennsylvania to West Virginia on May 25 with the intent to injure and kill Elliot. Talik, according to Potter, caused the commission of a violent crime against Elliot, which resulted in the death of Elliot.
Count Three alleges that Talik aided and abetted by the accomplice, used interstate commerce facilities in a murder-for-hire.
If convicted, Talik faces a maximum of five years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on Count One, a maximum of life imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000 on Count Two; and a maximum of life imprisonment or death and a fine of $250,000 on Count Three.
The case was investigated by the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania state police along with the Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
Potter noted that Talik remains and is presumed innocent until the time when he is proven guilty.
