CLEARFIELD – Weather forecasts are calling for snow showers, squalls, blowing winds and much colder temperatures Thursday through Friday across the region. PennDOT crews in District 2 will be out across nine counties, plowing and treating roads. District 2 PennDOT covers Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin, and Potter counties.
Accumulation is expected to be greater in McKean, Potter, Elk, Cameron and northern Clinton counties, where snowfall could exceed 6 inches in some areas. Several inches of snow are likely, with squalls possibly bringing a quick coating of up to 2 inches. Winds will also increase, creating potential for blowing and drifting snow and low visibility.
Maintenance crews will be out prior to the snowy weather performing pre-treatment on major roadways. PennDOT crews will remain as changing weather conditions make necessary.
Motorists are reminded to drive according to road and weather conditions, allow extra distance when following another vehicle, allow for extra travel time, and to always buckle up.
