HARRISBURG (PRNewswire) – Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging Nora Dowd Eisenhower today expressed her appreciation to members of senior centers from across Pennsylvania for donating hundreds of handcrafted ornaments for the Capitol Christmas tree.
“Each year we get a delightful array of ornaments that showcase the talent and creativity of Pennsylvania’s older adults,” said Eisenhower. “Many centers send letters along with the ornaments, mentioning how proud they are to contribute to the tree.”
This year, 64 centers donated decorations that resulted in nearly 500 ornaments being displayed on the tree that will stand in the Capitol
Rotunda through early January. Agencies from Clearfield County that contributed were: Clearfield Senior Center, Karthaus Senior Center, DuBois Senior Center, and Central PA Community Action in Houtzdale,
“We are honored to receive their donations,” Eisenhower said, “and thank them for the generous contribution of their time and talent.”
A tree lighting ceremony hosted by Governor Edward G. Rendell is scheduled to take place at noon on Monday, Dec. 11, in the Capitol Rotunda, Harrisburg.
