Six months ago today, Clearfield County was witness to something new and exciting.
GantDaily.com, Clearfield County’s only online news source, went on the Web May 15, and since that time, more than 16,000 people have made the site their homepage or one of their favorites.
“We put the power out there to the people,” Dawn Walls, editor of GantDaily, said. “And the people said they like a free site to get their news 24/7, whenever they’re ready and wherever they are.”
In the past six months, Clearfield County has seen its share of big news stories, including drug busts in both DuBois and Curwensville, an airplane crash in DuBois, a guilty plea for the murder of a Graham Township man, two ethanol plants planning to build in the county and the results of two elections.
In addition, GantDaily has brought you stories about celebrations and remembrances like the Fourth of July and Veterans Day. It has also been a place to post your son’s wedding, your granddaughter’s birth and other announcements or to submit photographs from a trout stocking or a Boy Scout event. For many, they have bought or sold items through GantDaily’s Marketplace, featuring MMAO (Make Me An Offer).
We have also added an audio component so that readers/listeners can choose to get their news in a different way. And, if they like, they can download it and take it with them in the car or anywhere their day might take them.
So, on GantDaily’s half birthday, we offer a salute to those of you who have enjoyed this unique platform, one that offers local original reporting, an interactive medium and a local marketplace.
Thanks for telling a friend and for helping GantDaily to grow.
And especially thanks to the advertisers who have recognized the public’s need to Get Area News Today. Without you and the public’s support, we would not be able to bring you news as it happens each and every day.
In taking the power of the World Wide Web and making it local, GantDaily has kept the people of Clearfield County and those who have ties here informed, entertained and connected for the past six months.
We have plenty of ventures in store for the coming six months and beyond, so log on, get it daily and be in the know.
