CLEARFIELD – In an effort to better help area groups, agencies and events better promote Clearfield County, the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority approved making some changes to their grant process.
The grants are mini-grants that can potentially be used by county groups, agencies, and events in an effort to not only help with their events and such, but to bring tourism into the county.
Probably the biggest change is that in the past, there was a cut-off date for applications. No more. Language in the application was amended to provide an “open” grant period, which means that funds will be available in the priority categories until the money is gone. Applications are available Jan. 3.
The committee overseeing the grants may take up to 60 days to review them and another 30 to process approved project checks. Grant hopefuls are still required to provide a 50-percent match requirement. Any grant hopefuls who have not complied with previous cycles’ reporting requirements will be ineligible to receive further funds until they are in compliance.
The priority categories and their amounts available are as follows: signage, $7,000; joint projects, $6,000; Web site development, $5,000; tourism development, $4,000; and media resources, $3,000.
