CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield civic organization opened up its heart and its bank account to help two groups.
As part of Make a Difference Day, a nationwide event in which groups and individuals volunteer their time and resources to others, the Clearfield Area Jaycees donated $500 to the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library in Clearfield and $500 to the Glen Richey Firemen’s Recreation Park.
The library will also offer an amnesty day on Saturday to allow those with overdue library books to return them without paying a fine. All they have to do is bring in a nonperishable food item that will be donated to a local food bank. For those who have turned their books in on time, Paul Bojalad, outgoing Clearfield Area Jaycees president, said donations will still be accepted.
“Even if you weren’t bad, you can still do some good,” he said.
Pat Larson, of the Glen Richey Firemen’s Recreation Park, said the first part of construction of the park is completed, and only a bit of fence and dirt are still to be placed at the to complete the first phase of work.
