MADISON, N.J. — Freshman quarterback Tanner Kelly of Clearfield passed for 282 yards and three touchdowns for Albright College, but FDU-Florham scored on a pass with 24 seconds left to stun the Lions 39-35 in Middle Atlantic Conference football action Saturday.
A crowd of 1,219 fans saw Kelly rally the visitors in the waning minutes, hitting Stephen Asay for a one-yard TD and then a two-point conversion to put Albright ahead for the first time 35-32 before the Devils answered. Both teams are 1-6 in the MAC and 1-6 overall.
Kelly\’s other two scoring passes, one a 57-yarder, cut FDU-Florham leads to one touchdown in the second half. He wound up with 22 completions in 29 attempts. He also ran three times for 25 yards.
FDU-Florham junior running back Dan Harrison was named MAC Player of the Week after rushing 29 times for 253 yards and three touchdowns. The Devils had 503 yards in total offense.
Kelly, who has played in six games, has taken the MAC lead in passing with 218.3 yards per game and total offense with 235.7 yards per game and also is No. 1 in completions (110 in 170 attempts) and completion percentage (64.7). He ranks second in passing yards (1,312), touchdowns (12) and efficiency (149.3). His three interceptions also are the fewest among MAC starting QBs.
Albright leads the MAC in passing offense (239.7 yards per game) and total offense (373.1) but will face the No. 1 MAC defense Saturday when undefeated Wilkes College visits Reading. Wilkes is No. 1 in rushing defense (allowing 71.1 yards per game), No. 4 in passing defense (141.3) and No. 1 in total defense (212.4).

SHIPPENSBURG — Nemesis Indiana University of Pennsylvania, the No. 24-ranked Division II team in the nation, spoiled Homecoming for Shippensburg Saturday, coming from behind with a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter for a 20-16 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference win at Seth Grove Stadium.
Right halfback Dave Richards of Clearfield carried six times for 29 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards for the Red Raiders, who out gained the winners 424 yards to 273 but were guilty of four turnovers in losing to IUP for the 19th consecutive time. The winners lead the PSAC-West at 4-0 and are 6-1 for the season. Shippensburg is 2-1 in the division and 4-4 overall.
Richards\’ season totals are 55 carries for 262 yards and one touchdown and 10 receptions for 118 yards.
Shippensburg will host California Saturday in a 1 p.m. kickoff.

DELAWARE, Ohio — Freshman goalkeeper Michelle Welker of Clearfield collected seven saves, but the Allegheny College women\’s soccer team lost 5-2 to host Ohio Wesleyan University (8-4-4, 4-2) in a North Coast Athletic Conference match Friday.
For the season, Welker has allowed 15 goals for a 1.05 average and has stopped 69 shots for an 82.1 save percentage.
The Gators are 9-7, 2-4 in the NCAC, for Wednesday\’s outing at The College of Wooster (Ohio).
