DUBOIS – For the third working day in a row, about 100 secretaries and support staffers from the DuBois Area School District are away from their posts and on the picket line.
The union, the DuBois Education Support Professional Association, began their strike Thursday on the grounds that the group has worked since June 2003, with negotiations on a new contract starting in January 2003.
DESPA President Sandy Kiehlmeier was not available Monday afternoon, but she said on the first day of the strike that the union intended to file court paperwork after hearing that others were doing the jobs of the striking workers.
District administration told GantDaily on Thursday that other staff members were stepping in where needed to perform the essential tasks needed to keep school open and volunteers were helping as well.
GantDaily will provide more information on this story as details are made available.
