Conservation Celebration Provides Fun and Learning

CURWENSVILLE – While the weather started out rough on Saturday morning, it turned out to be a beautiful day for the Clearfield County Conservation District’s Conservation Celebration at Curwensville Lake and Recreation Area.

A number of children and adults were at the event, which provided an atmosphere of both fun and learning. Some events included fly fishing and fly tying demonstrations by Trout Unlimited, kayak and canoe demonstrations by McCracken Canoe Sales & Rental, a climbing wall provided by the Army National Guard, as well as reptile and amphibian displays and many more displays provided by groups like the Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority, Pennsylvania Game Commission, and local watershed groups.

This is the second year for the event, which is funded through grant money.

“I’m excited,” said CCCD watershed specialist Rachel Kester.

“I was hoping we’d have a good turnout,” added Kester.
