CLEARFIELD – First Foreigner, then Billy Idol, but who is next?
The official word from the Clearfield County Fair and Park Board is that they are still looking for a performer for Tuesday’s show at the Clearfield County Fair.
That news has many ticket-holders getting “Hot-Blooded” and ready to let loose a “Rebel Yell.”
On Monday, fair officials received word that Foreigner canceled their performance due to an unexpected medical issue. Officials then released news on Tuesday that Billy Idol had been secured as a replacement for Foreigner.
However, Tuesday morning, officials learned that Billy Idol would not be accepting the date to perform.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to Foreigner or Billy Idol,” said Brenda Hunter, publicity director for the Clearfield County Fair.
“Events outside of our control have resulted in disappointment for everyone.”
The situation has created some upset fans because of the fair’s “no refunds” policy. For many years, the policy has stated that there are no refunds and no exchanges without exception.
Even so, the fair board isn’t stopping on their quest for Tuesday night entertainment at the fair.
“We are continuing to feverishly seek a replacement of equal caliber to perform on Tuesday night,” said Hunter. “Once an entertainer has been absolutely confirmed, a release will be issued to the media and posted on the fair Web site at www.clearfieldcountyfair.com.”
Hunter and the board asked that all fans remain patient while a performer is found. “Hopefully it will be an entertainer that everyone would love to see in concert.”
Ticket sales for Tuesday night will remain suspended until the fair has confirmation on who will be performing.
A performer canceled at the Clearfield County Fair only one time in recent memory. Ted Nugent was slated to play but canceled; Three Dog Night was brought in as a replacement.
