CLEARFIELD – On Monday, Clearfield County Fair officials received word from Mick Jones and members of Foreigner that the band would be unable to perform at the Clearfield County Fair on Aug. 1 due to an unexpected medical issue.
In a letter from the band, they thanked all of their fans and friends for the support shown thus far for the show and apologized for any inconveniences. In an effort to provide the same caliber of show, rock singer Billy Idol has been secured to perform in Foreigner’s place.
According to Brenda Hunter, fair publicity director, “It is unfortunate for fans of Foreigner that they will not be able to see the band perform. This would have been the band’s first appearance at the fair. However, given the unexpected nature of the situation, the fair board has acted swiftly to offer what we feel is an equal level of entertainment.
“We hope that fans will support the show. Unfortunately, due to the increased expense of contracting Billy Idol, the fair will not be able to offer refunds on tickets already sold. All tickets purchased remain valid and will be honored for Billy Idol.”
Ongoing details will be made available at the fair Web site www.clearfieldcountyfair.com as they are received. For more details, contact the fair’s ticket office at 765-1749 or the fair office at 765-4629.
Remaining tickets for the Billy Idol show will be sold at the same price as tickets were Foreigner.
