CLEARFIELD – The rock band Foreigner canceled their show at the Clearfield County Fair, but area fans aren’t the only ones who won’t get to see them.
The band contacted the fair board Monday to cancel the show, citing “an unexpected medical issue,” and rocker Billy Idol (“Rebel Yell” and “White Wedding”) is supposed to take over the concert, but fair officials are still awaiting final confirmation.
GantDaily has learned that Foreigner also canceled a show Wednesday night at the Delaware State Fair. The band .38 Special, which performed to a packed audience at last year’s Clearfield County Fair, will be standing in. The Delaware State Fair is offering refunds for tickets if people do not attend the .38 Special show.
Foreigner has also canceled the Rock County 4-H Fair in Wisconsin where they were scheduled to play Friday. The replacement act there is country artist Sammy Kershaw, known for songs such as “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful” and the tongue-in-cheek “Queen of My Double Wide Trailer.”
Admission is included in the gate price for grandstand shows at the Wisconsin fair.
Clearfield County Fair Publicity Director Brenda Hunter said Tuesday, “We hope that fans will support the show. Unfortunately, due to the increased expense of contracting Billy Idol, the fair will not be able to offer refunds on tickets already sold. All tickets purchased remain valid and will be honored for Billy Idol.”
GantDaily will provide updates on news of Tuesday’s fair concert as information becomes available.
The Clearfield County Fair can be found online at www.clearfieldcountyfair.com, and the ticket office can be reached by phone at 765-1749.
At least one Foreigner show will still go on as planned. Live Nation, which handles concert bookings for The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, Calif., said their Aug. 3 show with Foreigner was still on as of Tuesday.
