CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man is being held in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 straight bail for assault and other charges.
Michael S. Stevens, 47, is charged with aggravated assault and other counts after he allegedly fought with a 71-year-old Clearfield man.
A woman was driving by July 5 at about 1 p.m. when she said she saw two men fighting on South Second Street. Officers responded and spoke with the woman who said she saw one man get out of his vehicle. The man then reportedly punched the older man and kicked him in the head, according to a witness.
Officers then went to a nearby apartment where they found the alleged victim. He had bruising and swelling around his left eye and redness on his eye and ear. The alleged victim said Stevens said he was going to kill him.
The alleged victim was transported to Clearfield Hospital for treatment.
Police later found Stevens on Bigler Avenue. He was taken to the police station and advised of his rights. He agreed to speak with officers, according to court documents. Stevens reportedly told officers that he planned the events that happened July 5.
Stevens was also arragined this week on a driving under the influence charge. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he was taken into custody.
