CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville Little League 11-and-12 All-Stars wiped out a 5-0 deficit with a seven-run outburst in the fourth inning, but Four-Leaf Clover came back to win 8-7 in their District 5 Northern Tier Tournament opener Sunday evening.
Jesse Zorger ignited Curwensville\’s rally with a home run after Aaron Lidgett had retired the first 10 batters he faced. After Boon McGary doubled, Mark Bressler doubled and Shane Hoover singled to drive in runs. Alex Holland added an RBI-double later in the inning.
Kyler Kephart, who wound getting the win in relief of Lidgett, got Four-Leaf Clover off to a quick start with a two-run double in the first inning against McGary. The visitors tacked on three more in the third on hits by Lidgett and Cody Lee coupled with two Curwensville errors.
Four-Leaf Clover, the home team via the pre-game coin toss, got even in the lower fourth on a walk and two more Curwensville errors.
In the bottom of the seventh, Zach Miller led off with a walk from McGary. He advanced on Justyn Knepp\’s line single to left field and raced home with the winning run when Davin Gower\’s hard grounder was misplayed.
Both teams will go on the road Tuesday.
