CLEARFIELD – The Demolition Derby will return to the grandstand lineup at the 2006 Clearfield County Fair.
The derby will start at noon Aug. 5, Saturday at the fair.
Clearfield County Fair Manager Leon Meyer said that this year, the derby will consist of mid-sized cars because it is getting much more difficult and expensive to find big cars to use in the derby. This year cars entering the derby must have a car weight between 2,200-3,400 pounds.
Car weights will be determined by looking in the National Automobile Dealers Association official used car guide.
This will allow popular-sized cars like the Ford Taurus, Dodge Neon and Chevrolet Cavalier to successfully compete.
The fair office has a NADA book, and if there are questions about a certain car, the demo car builders can call the office a 765-4629, said Meyer.
Derby pre-entry fees will be $30 for the car and driver. Pre-entries close July 29 at 5 p.m.
At the gate the entry fee will be $50. Passes for the pit crew will be $20.
Pre-paid pit passes will include a gate pass for the fair. No one under age 18 will be allowed in the pits.
Full derby rules can obtained at the Clearfield County Fair office.
