ACM Bows Out of NJCAA Tourney

 MILLINGTON, TN — Allegany College of Maryland was unable to rebound from its opening
round loss to Brookdale (N.J.) Community College and was eliminated
from the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II
Baseball World Series Tuesday afternoon.

After the Trojans jumped on top 2-0 in the first inning, the
Jersey Blues scored seven unanswered runs and then held off the Region
20 champions 7-6 at USA Stadium.

Former Clearfield Area High School players Jim Collins and
Scott Hugney each had one of ACM\’s seven singles. Hugney singled and
scored in the first and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the
eighth. Collins singled and scored in the losers\’ three-run ninth.

The Trojans were 2-2 in the tourney and finished the season with a 49-11 record.

Hugney will finish as one of the leading hitters with his .533
average. Collins hit .278 and former Philipsburg-Osceola Area High
School player Jeremy Potter hit .273. All are sophomores.
